USA's Megan Rapinoe scored both goals against France in their quarter-final match-up in the 2019 Women's World Cup, lifting her team to a 2-1 victory to advance to the semi-final round. Rapinoe's first goal came just 4 minutes into play where her inbounds kick went past everyone to the back of the net. She scored again 64 minutes into play, an assist from teammate Heath. The match began to heat up 45 seconds into the second half when Valerie Gauvin made a straight on goal for France. 54 minutes in, Wendie Renard tried to block a shot attempt by Norway, but ended up knocking it in, tying the game with Norway. After France's setback, 72 minutes into the match, they were awarded a penalty kick. Eugeinie Le Sommer made the goal, giving France the win and sending them on to the next round.

France beat South Korea 4-0 in the first round of the 2019 Women's World Cup in Paris, France. France was able to snag the win by outshooting their opponent. They managed eight shots on goal, while South Korea had zero, which gave France three points in Group A. They dominated the field, having 66 percent possession as well as had 17 more shots than South Korea. Eugenie Le Sommer started the scoring for France. Amandine Henry finished it with the final goal 85 minutes into the game.
