Italy defeated China in the knockout stage of the 2019 Women's World Cup, winning the match 2-0 to advance to the quarter-finals. 14 minutes into the match, Italy's Valentina Giacinti completed a great sequence by advancing the ball from midfield, passing it to a teammate just above the box to ultimately getting the ball back for a score, moving past 3 China defenders. China ties Spain - Group Stage Match 3
China and Spain tied 0-0 in the 3rd group stage match of the 2019 Women's World Cup. As a result of the tie, both teams advanced to the Round of 16. Spain dominated the time of possession and had all of the goal attempts: 8 goal attempts off target and 12 on target vs China's zero in either category, though it was China's defense and great goalie work that kept the game nil. Spain advanced in second place behind Germany in Group B. China's 4 points were enough to qualify as one of the best 3rd place finishers.
China defeats South Africa - Group Stage Match 2
China beat South Africa in the second group stage match of the 2019 Women's World Cup by a score of 1-0. Both teams heading into this game had lost their first group stage match so this played like an elimination game. The lone goal came at the 39 minute mark by China's Li Ying, an assist from outside the box from teammate Zhang Rui. Th rest of the match was scoreless though China dominated possession throughout.
Germany defeats China - Group Stage Match 1
Germany won its first of three group stage matches by beating China 1-0 in the opening round of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in Paris, France. China's led striker Yang Li challenged Germany's goalie Almuth Schult a few times in the first half, hitting the goal post and just missing on an open goal. But Schult played well and never allowed a score throughout. On the 66th minute of the match Germany's Giulia Gwinn kicked in the lone goal, from outside the box at the top of the 18.
