France defeats Brazil - Round of 16
France beat Brazil 2-1 in the knockout stage of the 2019 Women's World Cup to advance to the quarter-finals. France scored a header 26 minutes in but VAR confirmed there was a penalty and the goal was reversed. France officially got on the board 52 minutes with a Valerie Gauvin goal. And Brazil's Thaisa answered back just after the hour mark. The match went to extra-time where France's captain Amandine Henry made the decisive goal in the first minute of the second period of extra time.

Brazil beat Italy 1-0 in the third group stage match of the 2019 Women's World Cup. Italy had already advanced to the Round of 16 and with this win Brazil secured their spot in advancement as well. This match went scoreless through 73 minutes of play, with many chances for both sides narrowly missing. But it was the penalty kick Brazil's Marta earned and scored on that made the difference. Marta became the all-time scorer in World Cup history, for men's or women's soccer with this goal, giving her 17 World Cup goals in total.
Australia defeats Brazil - Group Stage Match 2
Australia beat Brazil 3-2 in the second group stage match of the 2019 Women's World Cup. In the 25th minute Brazil earned a penalty kick and Brazilian forward Marta scored the first goal of the game, kicking it into the far left side of the net. Brazil would score yet again at the 37th minute from a Cristaine head butt. Tables turned for the rest of the match starting at the 46th minute when Catitlin Foord tapped in a Chloe Logarzo head butt attempt at the goal and then Logarzo scored herself from outside the box 57 minutes in. The final goal was an own goal by Brazil's Monica, which led to some replay controversy.
Brazil defeats Jamaica - Group Stage Match 1
Brazil won its first group stage match by beating Jamaica 3-0 in the opening round of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in Paris, France. This was Jamaica's first ever appearance in a Women's World Cup. The story of this match belonged to Brazil's veteran Cristiane Rozeira who scored all three goals, earning her the coveted hat trick, a first for Brazil since 1999. Cristiane scored at minutes 15, 50 and 64. Notably Brazil's star player Marta was out for this match due to a thigh injury.
